Butterflies and Brushes

$35.00

Date/Time: August 9th at 2:30pm

The monarch butterfly is a beautiful study in contrast—delicate yet resilient, intricate yet bold. In this watercolor workshop, we'll explore those same contrasts on paper as we paint a vibrant butterfly using watercolor techniques.  Working from a reference photograph, you'll learn how to build layers of color, create soft wet-on-wet transitions, and use careful brushwork to define the butterfly's distinctive wing patterns. We'll finish with optional metallic watercolor accents to add subtle shimmer and bring our paintings to life.

Throughout the workshop, we'll practice something artists have long understood: learning to truly observe. Before each stage of the painting, we'll pause to notice color, shape, pattern, and light—not rushing to paint what we think we see, but slowing down long enough to discover what is actually there.

Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or continuing your watercolor journey, you'll leave with new techniques, a deeper appreciation for observation as an artistic skill, and a butterfly painting that is uniquely your own.

The workshop includes a glass of wine or other beverage.
